City Of Tallahassee - TPS Waste Water Treatment Plant
The City of Tallahassee's Wastewater Treatment Division provides for the pumping of wastewater from the Wastewater Collection System to the Thomas P. Smith (TPS) Water Reclamation Facility. The TPS facility has a capacity to treat 26.5 million gallons of wastewater a day that meets and exceeds all local, state and federal permit standards. The wastewater treatment process insures the public trust by protecting the health, welfare and safety of our community and our precious natural water environment.
Data was always a challenge to pull from the Work Management System as it was complex and hard for the business user to understand. City Management wanted to become a more metric driven organization and keeping track of Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) was a challenging exercise. Traditional old fashioned reports were available but modifying them was expensive and time consuming. There was no central way to interrogate the data and get quick answers to questions about how the plant is performing.
COT worked closely with CHAMPS Analytics to consolidate the data from their CMMS system and load it into Qlik. After loading over 40 tables from the SQL Server, Work Management and Operations Department can optimize their work schedule, load balance all assignments and manage their plant assets more effectively. Since 2016, over $6 million dollars in process improvements have been made by simply analyzing the data and operating more effectively. All the major KPIs to run the plant more effectively are now available and updated multiple times a day.
